Quick verdict

A Compact Historical Budget Phone with Modern Limitations

The Honor 6A delivered a respectable combination of metal construction, expandable storage, dual-SIM support and fingerprint security for its 2017 launch price. Its compact dimensions and basic connectivity can still suit calls, messaging, media playback and light secondary-phone use. However, Android 7.0 is obsolete, current security support is not established, and modern apps may perform poorly or stop supporting the device. Battery degradation should also be expected on used units.

Best For

  • Users seeking an inexpensive secondary phone for calls and messaging
  • Collectors or buyers interested in older compact Android smartphones
  • Basic users who require a headphone jack, FM radio and expandable storage
  • Temporary or low-risk use where modern application support is not essential

Think Twice If

  • You need current Android security updates
  • You depend on banking, authentication or workplace apps
  • You expect smooth modern gaming or demanding multitasking
  • You require USB-C, fast charging or modern wireless connectivity
  • You are buying a used unit with unknown battery condition

Who should buy

Who Should Consider the Honor 6A?

The Honor 6A may suit buyers who need a very inexpensive secondary handset for calls, messaging, offline media or temporary use. Its compact body, headphone jack, FM radio, fingerprint sensor and expandable storage remain practical for basic tasks. It is not recommended as a security-sensitive primary phone unless the buyer has confirmed application compatibility and accepts the risks associated with obsolete software.

Final decision

Final Review Verdict

The Honor 6A was a competitive budget smartphone in 2017, particularly in its 3GB RAM and 32GB storage configuration. Its aluminium build, fingerprint reader, expandable storage and reasonable battery capacity gave it solid value at a launch price of CNY 999, or approximately $145 at the time. In current use, however, outdated software, limited performance and uncertain battery health significantly reduce its appeal. It is best considered as a basic secondary device, collector item or temporary phone rather than a modern everyday smartphone.
